Sandwiched between the fertile plains of India and the mountain plateaus of Tibet, Nepal is blessed with scenic beauty that is at the same time breath taking and inspirational.

From the jungles of the south to the towering peaks of the north, Nepal offers the visitor a one-stop destination of adventure. With eight of the world's tallest mountains, including the world's tallest, Mt. Everest, Nepal has become a heaven for trekkers and mountain climbers.

With over 80% of the population following the Hindu religion, Nepal is officially considered a Hindu nation.

In spite of the rich scenic beauty, Nepal remains one of the most poorly developed nations of the world. Over half of the population lives below the poverty line.

About 75 percent of the population live out their lives as subsistence farmers, carving out a living on the steep mountain slopes.

Isolated by lack of roads and bridges, the majority of Nepalese are cut off from access to health care, quality education, vocational training and employment. Only about 50% of the population are literate. Lack of sanitation facilities and poor access to safe drinking water results in high rates of disease and death.

The population of Nepal is aproximately 28 million and growing at a rate of just over 2%/year.

With only one doctor for every 15,000 people and only 4700 hospital beds in the entire country, Nepal has one of the lowest life expectancy rates in the world.
